Money
Forget what the song said, copper makes the world go round.
For thousand of years, the ease of working with copper has made it an integral part in global trade and business. Copper nickel alloys were first used in coins around 170 BC. Since 2001, many EU Member States have adopted the Euro.
All over the world, coins with an equivalent value of between 10 cents and €2 contain a minimum 75% copper. They can be produced with precision by stamping rolled copper alloy strip, and they can keep their shape and appearance for centuries and longer.
