Copper has been the choice of architects for many centuries.
Copper used in outdoor applications develops a natural green 'patina'. This patina varies depending on the surroundings but modern manufacture can speed up this process and supply natural copper in shades of blue and brown and green and gold. The most daring modern designs and the restoration of centuries-old buildings benefit from copper's ability to meet the needs of the architect.
But that's not all.
Copper roofs, facades, guttering and lightening conductors will last hundreds of years without significant degradation. They are almost maintenance-free and, when the building is demolished, they can be totally recycled.
